Kris Letang will be out indefinitely after the Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman suffered a stroke earlier this week, the team said Wednesday.

Penguins general manager Ron Hextall said in a statement that Letang was taken to a hospital Monday after reporting his symptoms to the team's medical staff. The Penguins said the six-time All-Star was not experiencing any lasting effects and that this is not believed to be career-threatening.

Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov will not join the team for the start of its upcoming road trip, coach Paul Maurice said on Sunday.

There is potential for Barkov to catch up to the Panthers and join the team during the trip, Maurice said after practice, but he will miss at least the first two games.

The Nashville Predators postponed home games scheduled for Friday and Saturday because of a water main break that soaked their downtown arena.

Hours after the Predators decided they couldn't play Friday's game against the Colorado Avalanche, the team announced it also postponed Saturday's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Makeup dates for the two games will be announced later.

A proposed deal for the Arizona Coyotes' new arena will go to a public vote.

The Tempe City Council voted unanimously on Thursday night to send a proposed arena and entertainment district to referendum in May.

Less than three days after signing Mitchell Miller to an entry-level contract, the Boston Bruins announced Sunday they were cutting ties with the controversial prospect.

The decision to sign the 20-year-old defenseman drew intense criticism from the moment the Bruins announced it Friday. 

Peter McNab, the former NHL player and television color analyst for more than 25 years with the Colorado Avalanche, died on Sunday. He was 70.

McNab, who was the color analyst for the Avalanche since their inception in 1995, was diagnosed with cancer last year.

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said Saturday the Boston Bruins did not consult the league before signing Mitchell Miller and that he would "need to see a whole bunch of things" going forward.

Bettman's comments came a day after the Bruins announced they signed Miller, a prospect defenseman, to an entry-level contract. Miller was a fourth-round pick by the Arizona Coyotes in 2020 until his draft rights were relinquished after a story was published about how he and another classmate were convicted of assaulting and bullying a Black developmentally disabled classmate.

Senators Sports & Entertainment on Friday announced that the Ottawa Senators are for sale, with a condition being that the team must remain in Ottawa.

Team chairman Sheldon Plener said in a statement that it was "a necessary and prudent step to connect with those deeply interested parties who can show us what their vision is for the future of the team."
